1. Introduction
Mackring9 Private Limited ("we," "our," or "us") operates KringP-Cortex, a voice-first family memory platform. KringP-Cortex lets you record, preserve, and share your life stories — through voice and video diary entries, AI-powered transcription, a memory assistant called chintu, shareable vaults, a private family feed, and printed memory products available to order.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our mobile apps, website, and related services.
Our privacy commitment: Your data and memories are safe. We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with advertisers. We run no ads on the platform. Your journal content is never used to train AI models.
2. The Short Version
Here's what matters most:
- Your recordings are yours. Audio and video recordings are transcribed by our own systems. We do not send your voice to third-party AI companies.
- Your data stays with us. Transcription, memory search, and chintu are processed by our own systems — not OpenAI, Google, or any third-party AI provider.
- You control sharing. Entries are private by default. You choose what goes into shared vaults, what appears in the family feed, and who can see it.
- We don't sell your data. Ever. No ads, no data brokers, no marketing use of your journal content.
- The platform is free. There are no subscriptions, no paid tiers, and no payment processing for the core service.
- You can export and delete. Export your data anytime. Delete your account and your data goes with it.
3. Information We Collect
3.1 Account Information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Email address and display name
- Profile image (if you provide one)
- Authentication data from Google or Apple (if you sign in with those services)
- Date of birth (to verify eligibility)
- Your confirmation that you meet the eligibility requirements (see Terms of Service), and records of the Terms version you accepted and Privacy Policy version you acknowledged
3.2 Your Diary Content
As a voice-first diary platform, we process:
- Audio and video recordings: Stored securely to provide transcription, playback, and voice cloning (with your consent). Recordings are stored on our servers and backed up to encrypted cloud storage.
- Transcriptions: The text version of your recordings, stored in our database and used for search and the chintu memory assistant.
- Written entries: Text entries you type directly.
- Photos: Images you attach to entries or albums. Photos in private albums stay private; photos you post to the family feed are visible to your family-tree members.
- AI-generated insights: Structured data extracted from your entries (spending records, visited places, meals) used to answer your questions accurately.
3.3 Vaults, Family Tree, and Sharing
- Vaults: You organize entries into vaults (Relationship, Family, Health, Finance, Work, Legacy, and custom vaults). Each vault has its own access permissions that you control.
- Family tree: Names, relationships, birth dates, and anniversaries for family members you add. Used for the family feed, birthday reminders, and chintu's family-aware answers.
- Family feed: Photos and updates you choose to share with family-tree members. The feed is private — visible only to people in your family tree, never public.
- Invitations: Email addresses of people you invite to join your family tree.
3.4 Voice Cloning
If you use the voice cloning feature:
- We create a voice profile from your recordings, only with your explicit consent.
- Your cloned voice is used solely to read back your own diary entries to you.
- You can delete your voice profile at any time.
3.5 Usage Data
- How often you use the app, feature interactions, and navigation patterns
- Error reports and crash logs for debugging
- Device information (operating system, app version)
3.6 Printed Products
When you order printed diary books, yearbooks, or photo albums (website only), we collect:
- Shipping name and address
- Order details (which entries/photos to include)
- Payment is processed by our payment provider; we never see or store your card details
4. How We Handle Your Data with AI
Unlike most AI apps, we do not send your content to third-party AI companies. Here's exactly what happens:
4.1 Transcription
Your voice recordings are transcribed by our own systems. Your audio is never sent to OpenAI, Google, AssemblyAI, or any external AI service for transcription.
4.2 chintu Memory Assistant
When you ask chintu a question, the relevant entries are retrieved from your diary and processed by our own systems. Your diary content is never sent to third-party AI companies.
4.3 No Model Training
We do not use your journal content, recordings, or any personal data to train AI models — ours or anyone else's.
5. Third-Party Services
We work with a small number of infrastructure providers. None of them receive your journal content for AI processing or advertising.
We do not use third-party analytics, advertising networks, or tracking pixels. There are no cookies used for tracking.
6. How Sharing Works
Your entries are private by default. Sharing only happens when you explicitly choose it:
- Vault sharing: You invite specific people to a vault. They see only that vault's entries — never your other vaults.
- Family feed: Photos and updates you post are visible only to members of your family tree. There is no public feed.
- Printed products: When you order a printed book or album, the entries and photos you select are used solely to produce your order.
We will never share your identifiable journal content with third parties except as described in this policy or with your explicit consent.
7. Data Storage and Security
7.1 Where Your Data Lives
- Application servers and database: hosted in the EU
- Encrypted recording backups: hosted in the United States
- Email delivery: via our email provider
If you are in the EU, your data is primarily processed in the EU. Recording backups in the US are encrypted.
7.2 How We Protect It
- All data encrypted in transit (TLS/SSL)
- Passwords securely hashed (never stored in plain text)
- Recordings stored with restricted access
- Access to personal data limited to what's needed to operate the service
No system is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your data.
7.3 Data Retention
- Recordings and transcriptions: Kept as long as your account is active.
- Backups: Encrypted backups are retained for disaster recovery and purged on a rolling basis.
- Account deletion: Deleting your account removes your entries, recordings, transcriptions, vaults, family tree data, and voice profiles from our active systems. Backup copies are purged within 90 days.
8. Your Privacy Rights
8.1 For Everyone
Regardless of where you live, you can:
- Export your data: Download your profile, vaults, and diary entries (transcripts and metadata) as JSON, HTML, or plain text at any time.
- Delete your account: Use the Delete Account feature. This removes your data as described in section 7.3.
- Control sharing: Change vault permissions, remove family-tree members, or delete feed posts at any time.
- Ask questions: Email privacy@kringp-cortex.com anytime.
8.2 For EU/UK Users (GDPR)
You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict processing of, and port your personal data, and to object to certain processing. Our legal bases are: contract (providing the service), legitimate interests (security, improvement), and consent (optional features like voice cloning and marketing emails).
8.3 For California Users (CCPA)
You have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion, and opt out of sales. We do not sell your personal information.
8.4 For Canadian Users (PIPEDA)
We comply with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act. You may access and challenge the accuracy of your personal information by contacting privacy@kringp-cortex.com.
9. AI Limitations
chintu's answers are generated from your diary entries and may not always be perfectly accurate. KringP-Cortex is a memory tool, not a medical device, financial advisor, or legal advisor. Do not rely on AI-generated content for medical, financial, or legal decisions.
10. Children's Privacy
KringP-Cortex is for users aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If we learn that a child under 13 has created an account, we will delete the account and its data.
Parents may record entries about their children as part of their own diary. These entries are subject to the same privacy protections as all other entries.
11. Legal Disclosures
We may disclose your information if required by law (court order, subpoena) or if we believe it necessary to prevent harm or protect our legal rights. We will notify you unless prohibited by law.
12. Business Transfers
If Mackring9 Private Limited is acquired or merged, your information may be transferred. We will notify you before your data becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
13. International Data Transfers
Your data is primarily processed in France (EU). Encrypted recording backups are stored in the United States. By using the service, you consent to this transfer. We apply appropriate safeguards for cross-border data flows.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. For material changes, we will notify you through the app or by email and update the "Last Updated" date.
